The Door of Jubilee
My trust has been gone for so long
I cast fear doubting my choosing
Without trying, a new hope rises
Walk through the Door of Jubilee
My heart sweats a forgotten song
Hope swells with fervor's sweet blessing
Shy starry-eyes sing bold praises
Thanks God graces me a trustee
My soul begins to react strong
I feel peace from Love caressing
A warm soothing calm makes me wise
My ego no longer debris
My Love teaches me I belong
No longer filled with guessing
Tribulation is worth the prize
A faithful future I foresee
My faith adores Him all along
His Gaze on me is refreshing
I give little sacrifices
Praying forever Love is the Key
I was lead to discover seven lines of my prose in an old electronic text document from February 4, 2010. I was once again inspired to revive it and engulfed with it a great memory. The first time I walked through the Door of Jubilee with my son. Pope Francis announced, "A Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instills hope." Every Diocese in the world celebrated the Jubilee in the Year of Mercy.
The Year of the Jubilee does not have its origin in the Christian traditions but the Hebrew. The word itself in Hebrew loosely means freedom. There are many different time cycles of occurrences and types of jubilees. Leviticus may give some sort of description of how jubilees create the opportunity to be forgiven of being held accountable to an overwhelming debt. Simply put: if I owed you ten million dollars. After working for you for a prolonged amount of time, let us say ten years; and I had only paid you back ten thousand. Therefore in my lifetime I could never repay the debt in full. During the year of a Jubilee however many years I had already worked would be accepted as payment in full. The time frame for this forgiveness to be granted could range from seven to seventy years. Perhaps more or less depending on which society you ask.
The selection of scripture Ezekiel 26:12 - 28:6 was at first hard to perceive its relation to my joyous memory. It is a wonderful read of the accounting of one Prince of Tyre. The Prince had all the advantages of being born and raised in Eden. Unfortunately, evil was cultivating within his soul and his guardian angel had to escort him from Eden. He ventures out unscathed by being evicted and takes up a glorious career in mercantile commerce. The Prince becomes the greatest possible to achieve everything one could ever desire in wealth and prestige.
So much so, Tyre was so wealthy, he had come to believe he was a God for he was renowned among all the nations as the best in the trade. That is until the day God takes Prince Tyre and his ship of wealth to the bottom of the sea. The God of Commerce becomes a horrific memory among all the Kings. The Lord's oracle made certain it is well known Prince Tyre was damned for all time. The enactment of the laws of Jubilee was to counter the onset of greed from men who exploited others with unreasonable debts for personal gain. The saying is very old, "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer!"
